Learning Objectives: Pupils will be taught to:

Learning outcomes: At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
                                                                                               I.            Use the vocabulary related to mass in practical contexts


Previous knowledge: Measure lengths of objects using standard units
                                                                                               I.            Meter

Set Induction
(5 minutes)

  • Introduce the mass and conversation teacher and students
  • Question is asked by the teacher
  • Ex: What is the length of the paper strip?

  1. Teacher recalls pupils’ prior knowledge on prior lesson.
  2. Each pair of pupils is given a paper strip
  3. The pupils are asked to measure the paper strip by using cm ruler
  4. Pupils are expected to give the answer:
³ The paper strip is ______cm long´

Step 1
(20 minutes)




1.      Every pupil is asked to lift up their own chair and later then following by lifting a pencil

2.      Questions are posed to the pupils
For example
‘The chair is heavy or light? ´

‘The pencil is heavy or light?’



3.      Pupils are required to give appropriate respond based on the questions asked have 6 flat faces,12 edges and 8 corners…Nice to meet you”

For example,
‘The chair is heavy´

‘The pencil is light´

4.      Teacher is later then show 1 picture to the pupils

5.      For example,
‘Watermelon’

6.      Teacher will pose a question to the pupils

For example:
‘Can you lift up the watermelon with one hand? ´

‘Is the watermelon heavy?’

Step 2
(15 minutes)

Class activity


  1. Teacher begins the class activity with dividing the class into two groups

  1. A student selected will be recognize the shape given by the member later on and name the correct it

  1. Then, teacher ask selected student to put the solid 3-dshape at the correct place to 3-d chart
